Open Letter to Admins

I am putting this here because more members read this forum than the "site suggestions" forum.
With the recent punk move by photo bucket and how many threads on this and other sites have become almost unreadable without pictures, I am wondering if you could open up the "edit" feature on our threads so we can upload images to directly to the site and move around PB. It may increase readership as people would once again be able to follow build threads. It would be a lot of work on our part too but it is frustrating to be held hostage by Photo Bucket.

Since the heading indicates the thread is directed to the site Administrators the best place for it is still in the “Site Feedback & Announcements” forum. Administration is more apt to see it there than here.

As explained to me, the problem is there is no way to allow one registered (Pink) member access without allowing ALL registered (Pink) members access, whether they need it or not.....

Yes I know the site feed back is the best place, but the most views are here and I figured more than just a few would want to weigh in.
So your saying if I am not pink I can edit?

Generally, yes. I can't tell you to what extent or how far back you can go because it's been a long time since had to do it as a Premium member. Since I became a Team Leader I can edit pretty much anything anywhere..... I will see what I can find out.

Re: Open Letter to Admins

I think it would be in the forums best interest to allow full editing even if for a limited time. The forum is loosing traffic when you have 5 Star build threads like “Tootsie...” and “1969 short wide” full of dead PB links. These two threads combined have almost a million views total. Well they’re not getting all those views anymore with dead photo links. Of course there’s no guarantee that the originators of those threads will go back and edit their pics but a lot of people would, if they could. And as for only allowing subscribing members to edit well that’s just a slap in the face. You expect people to pay you $25 to update their pics so the forum can benefit by increased traffic.

Re: Open Letter to Admins

Yes this is what I was kind of getting at by posting it here. Just for a limited time to allow us to restore the threads. I know there are benefits to being a premium member and allowing us pinkies to somewhat restore our threads might net some new premium members. HBO and Showtime even have free weekends from time to time to let non subscribers to see what they are missing. Just a thought.

Re: Open Letter to Admins

Not only is Site Feedback or General Discussion (if not addressed to admin) the place for ths, but if you went there yourself you would see you are only duplicating threads suggesting the same thing you are. Read post#6. That shows your best solution

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=755837

All the views here are to see 67-72 related topic matter and misplaced threads displace what people are in the forum to see.

Upgraded features cost money, that’s how life works. The owners don’t “expect” people to pay to use the forum, so why do you “expect” a feature that has been available to subscribing members for many years, for free now? If you uploaded your pictures directly to your post instead of relying on a third party host, the pictures would still be there today. Everybody is up in arms over photo bucket charging money now. Did you think that free ride would last? I’m surprised it took them this long...

Instead of posting about it to those that can't help you, a better option would be to pm Josh and discuss it with him directly.

Admins can not change site settings and rules. Pm him and chat.

Re: Open Letter to Admins

I am currently working on a solution for the photobucket deal. 'Im going to be upgrading the forum software and implementing a tool that will go to photobucket and retrieve the pictures and upload them to the associated threads. Not sure on the ETA or full functionality of this but hopefully by the end of the month.

Thanks, Josh

Re: Open Letter to Admins

Sorry I guess it is misplaced semantics. I thought there was a difference between moderators and admin. I thought Liz and Josh were adim and everyone else were moderators. Now I know. I was not attempting to duplicate threads I was hoping to spur a discussion on the topic. I have been around here a while now and I love this forum but I notice the site feedback forum only ever has 2 or 3 viewers where the 67-72 forum has hundreds at any given time.
Josh I am glad to hear that you are working on a fix. I have now started to up load directly to the site.
