'00 Painted Interior Project

I've been in the works of painting a dash for a kid that I know. The pickup is a 2000 ECSB Silverado. Of the interior pieces, this is all that will be painted...

-Lower half of the dash: Glove box, fuse cover/end panels, dr. side knee bolster/panel, cigarette lighter cover, ash try cover and the middle piece in the center console with the flip up lid.
-Surrounds on the pass. side air vents
-Inner areas of the gauge bezel
-Door Panels: Speaker grilles, window switches, and door handle trim
-A pillar covers

The kid rides motorcycles and I have came up with a design/logo that will have his bike number and last name. That will be airbrushed on the A pillar covers and also will be airbrushing some ghost flames on the dash and door pieces.

Also sold him my rear bucket seat and fiberglass speaker box along with my two JL Audio W1s and amp. The speaker box has already been repainted, did it a two tone with the color we are using and a SEM dye the same color as the interior. That is already installed and painted. Also I am painting my old Trenz billet dash trim that will be painted to match also.

Heres some previous pictures and pictures of some of the dash that I was working on tonight...

First off the paint that is being used for everything

Wetsanding the speaker box

Sanding on the knee bolster piece. Starting off with 120 grit.

All sanded with 120.

Gone over with 180.

Got the glove box apart and other pieces sanded tonight

Everything is all sanded down and ready for primer except the glove box and lower dash piece pictured in the last picture. More pics to come as thing project continues. Hope to have it done by the next weekend.

Re: '00 Painted Interior Project

that looks great! i started trying to do some of that myself, starting with some of the under the hood plastics like fuse box cover and the engine covers on my 6.0. u have great patients because i thought it was too time consuming, and then my new air compressor broke. but all that looks good and keep us updated with ur progress.

Re: '00 Painted Interior Project

I got the glove box and surrounding panel sanded last night. Just need to do some final sanding on those pieces and a couple others. Gonna mask up some all the pieces and starting slingin' primer tonight. Next, start wetsanding the primer these next couple nights and start spraying color and airbrushing this weekend hopefully.

Re: '00 Painted Interior Project

Got everything primed last night. Tonight I started wetsanding with #400, finish with some #600. Some of the pieces are going to have to be sprayed with primer again...in which I am out of Due to the delay of no primer and having to prime some pieces a second time, color will have to wait a couple days.

All wiped down ready to be shot

A pillars primed

Wetsanding tonight

Re: '00 Painted Interior Project

Heres the painted pictures. Last night I had problems when I started out to do the airbrushing/artwork on the A pillars. I sprayed a coat of white with my mini jet gun and ended up with a small run and fish eyes. So it will be sanded down and start again on it either tonight or real soon. Otherwise I got done last night around midnight.

Everything wiped down ready for sealer.

Note the little stand I made for painting/airbrushing the A pillars.

First coat of base.

Me spraying the clear.

Done and cleared.

All the pieces are in boxes and are out of the shop. Waiting on the money for everything (dash, subs, box, seats) from the kid I did this work for. Told him he's not getting his dash back until I was paid in full for everything, he thought differently. I've had quite a 'run-a-around' with this kid. Anyways, I will get installed pics when its done for sure.
