Another forum member is interested in buying my stepside bed, but is probably at least a month away from being able to pick it up. Meanwhile, I plan to acquire a long fleetside bed and section it to make a shorty, so regardless, I should have a bed you can borrow if your timeline is that far out. Keep me posted on your schedule so I can coordinate with my guy. Thanks!

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed

Well I just ran the number on my engine block I was using to get a title and it is a 57 and it has to be within 5 years of 1967 to work. Does anyone have a chevy engine that is plus or minus 5 years if 1967 I could borrow for a day. It can be just a block.

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed

I know I have not posted on here in awhile but I have been swamped with work. I have been working on my truck and gathering parts during this time.

Thanks to VIC1947 giving me his stepside bed I now have enough parts to complete my vin inspection. Come to find out Vic lives less than a mile from my house. Small world. I just called out to the vin inspection office and talked to the highway patrol. It looks like my motor will work after all. I am going to try to line up a trailer soon and get it out there so I can get this completed. Then I can send off for a title.

I also snagged a nice roof section from a donor cab that was going to the scraper. It is a large back window so I plan to weld in the window section of the big window. Then i will be sending most parts I am keeping to the sandblaster and then the rest to the scraper.
Anyway as soon as I get my title I will create a new build thread for this truck.

It worked. I passed vin inspection and just need my stepdad to take the paperwork to get the title.

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed

Well I have been working on the truck most of the weekend. I took the stepside bed to the scraper since it was trashed and I only needed it to pass inspection. I also pulled the fenders, core support and grill. I am working on pulling the front crossmember since I will be going porterbuilt.
I am happy I can actually start wrenching. I also plan to start a new build thread within a few days.

As fast as you work, I'll be surprised if this new build actually takes you five years. If you need help, just remember, I'm only a mile away. Look forward to subscribing to the new build thread. Post it up!!

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed

Vic, I think the only reason it will take 5 years is due to money. I do work fast but sometimes that is a fault. I am going to try to slow down on this one and do it right.

Re: PROJECT LOW DOUGH -1967 shortbed

Brian, I went over to the garage off Searcy Creek and thought I might have the cowl from the white truck there. I thought I had got rid of it, but I found it was still in the garage. It's yours if you want it, it is a antenna delete cowl same as my black cowl.
