Smile Unique Canadian Car......one for the U.S.A guys

Thought you guys would find this interesting...and some of you might know about it.

http://www.usedvictoria.com/classifi...Coupe_31676587

This is a Canadian pontiac model from the 60's....based on the Chevelle/Malibu called the 'Beaumont'.
Note how most of the sheet metal is from the Chevelle but the front end is definitely different...almost a bit like a Buick and the dash is quite different and more in keeping with the GTO's.
Regardless, many folks from the U.S aren't aware that Pontiac-Canada worked to use chevrolet drivetrains in their cars.
So in the big and small pontiacs you would 283's, 327's, 396's etc....instead of the 389's, 400's etc.
The high performance version of this is really rare and was called the SD (super duty?) with a high performance 396...like the Chevelle in it.
Regardless, thought a few might find it interesting and check out that grill....lol

All good

Re: Unique Canadian Car......one for the U.S.A guys

I have a friend in South Carolina with a 69 Beaumont SD and a friend in Canada with a 67 Beaumont SD 4 speed car that he bought new and still has . He drove it all the way to Ga one year to our Chevelle show . He wanted a big block 4 speed Vette or Chevelle but could not afford to insure either one but the Beaumont was considered a family car and he ordered it with the big block and 4 speed and insurance was cheap .

An Arcadia Tim!
Never seen one of them!

Lots of Beaumont/Chevelles though. Especially 66 and 67. With a scarcity of Beaumont grills lots of Beaumont’s got Chevelle front sheet metal and grills if the front end got wiped out in a fender bender.

Re: Unique Canadian Car......one for the U.S.A guys

Is it Acadian? The one based on the Chevy II/Nova platform. I could be wrong, but I thought the compacts were Acadian and the mid-size were Beaumonts. I know once Chevy came out with the Malibu/Chevelle there were both bodies offered in Canada. Was it Acadian being the brand, not a model? It's been a while since I looked into these cool cars. Maybe it's the compacts were called the Canso?

How about the full-sizes called the Laurentian? Another cool Canadian model

Here’s a wiki on the Acadians and Beaumont’s.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acadian_(automobile)

Some of those full size Laurentians were produced with some different drivetrains. There was a 4 door Laurention my buddy in high school drove that had a 396 2 bbl with 3ott. Another I ran into had a 327 with 4 speed.
And also the parissienes with 409’s, 396’s and 427’s.
