I am trying to install a ece super track bar and can not get the old u bolts out. I am working on jack stands so my space is limited. I have sprayed them 4 or 5 times with kloil and pb blaster and have had no luck with a 3# hammer and wedge. Is there any problem that I am not seeing if I take a cut off wheel and cut the U before the bend and take my impact and try to tighten the nut till it gets tight and hopefully turns the remaining straight part of the U. Any war stories about your experiences or opinions are welcome. Thanks

I just cut mine off and bought new ones

Idk how much space you actually have but I've never found a bolt that could stand up against a breaker bar + jack handle combo for more torque.

Cut the u-bolts just above the trailing arm. You can then use your impact like you talked about. Should pull it most of the way down.

I use heat a lot.

Usually if you get the nut to the point where it's almost ready to start glowing, it will spin right off.

I just had to do it with my adjustable panhard bar last weekend
