Single wide wheels on a 90 dually?

I might be getting a 90 dually single cab 2wd and want to lower it and get some new wheels. I would like to get some wide singles for the rear. Also if anyone knows what a good lowering kit for this truck would be let me know. I want to tow a car trailer with it and still make dump runs but it has to come down out of the clouds. BTW it's a 90 with 74k on it and a 454 so it should be a nice truck and easy to fix up. I'll ad pics if I get it I'm waiting on my refinance to get done with.

Here's a version of a strong single real tire. I have seen these 'single' tires used on cement trucks.
It drove as nice as it looks....
( Sorry, best view I have, but they may be 'do-able' )

Re: Single wide wheels on a 90 dually?

Are you trying to replicate the phantom dually's of the early 90's?

Those trucks were 1/2 tons, and were running drag tires for the most part.

If you go with 20's you can get 345/30/20's, but they won't hold any weight really.

Either way you take away the weight capacity if that is important to you.

The tires on that F650 are single-rim semi tires. They will hole any weight, along with a good side wall for a reasonable feeling ride.

Re: Single wide wheels on a 90 dually?

The truck he described and what you shown are pretty far apart.

How will he lower a 3500 with a near 40 inch tire?

That's why I think from what he described is a late 80's phantom dually.

Beats the heck outta me

I was only suggesting a wide & strong tire that I know of.....

Re: Single wide wheels on a 90 dually?

I always liked phantom duallies. Wanted one for years. But the tires he's looking for a pro-street tires, like 31x18.5s. Check summitracing.com, they have a huge list of tires....

There isn't anything made that fits under a lowered dually that's load rated as far as tires go. American Force wheels can supply you w/a 24" single wide rear that the 405/25-24's fit on. I recall recently on an IG post that LittleShop Manufacturing had some blanks they could machine & I know I've seen wheel blanks advertised for sale (to shops w/machining equipment only).

More info on what you're trying to do might help generate more specific answers.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
