Question How much distance between G - M - C hood letters??

I think the '71 has a Chevy hood - it has only two emblem holes in the center of the leading edge. The 'M' lines up perfectly in the two holes.

If some of you GMC guys could measure the distance between the 'G' and the 'M', and between the 'M' and the 'C', and also the complete outside distance spanning the entire GMC logo. I'm thinking that the holes on the underside of the hood probably line up pretty well with the emblem letters;

Thanks for your assistance!

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...c+hood+letters
has a good pic of the letters in relation to one another.
You can measure the actual M on your hood then the M in the picture and do a complex ratio thingamajig to see how much distance you need.

Re: How much distance between G - M - C hood letters??

I don't have a hood with the letters off to measure mount hole locations,but the two I have here measure across the middle 2 15/16" between the edges of the G & M and 3" between the M & C. End to end across the middle it's 18 1/8+ (5/32?) if you let the tape bend at the center of the hood.

Thanks for the link to the photos sicklajoie, and I appreciate special-K for taking the time with a tape measure. I'll get these drilled and mounted today - pictures to follow!

I did a double whizbang zoom on your picture and it appears you are a few nanometers off.

Great job. That truck looks awesome. Now could you entertain a guy with a full body shot.

Not sure if you are kidding or not ,,but me being an old carpenter and eye balling things into place ,,I see the G being (as you call it ,,a nanometer high,,I do hope it's just the way the picture was taken ,,but from my screen this is how I see it..

sorry jtj143 ,,like I said ,hope I am wrong as the distance between the letters look evenly spaced.. and ,,I'd like to see the whole truck also as it looks like a nice truck..papa Larry

Re: How much distance between G - M - C hood letters??

Special-K - you had me for a nanosecond, but I've seen too many helpful posts from you - I bet you measured twice!

Ask and you shall receive...here is a side shot of the truck, hopefully if the letters are off no more than a nanometer it won't be noticeable while motoring down the road...
