Corvette filterm/regulator fitting help

Hey guys, starting the process of building my fuel line and I'm running into an issue. I've purchased a couple different quick connect fittings for the return/supply side of the regulator and both seam to be too wide and hit each other when I'm mocking them up.
Here is the parts I have
-Napa gold 3737 fuel regulator/filter
-Fragola 491990-BL and 491989-BL
-Faster -6AN 5/16 and 3/8" threaded quick connect's

I liked the idea of the fast threaded fitting but they are in a bind to get them on. So ordered the fragolas thinking they would be thinner (strike 2) same size outer diameter if not bigger then the fast fittings.

I'm wondering if any of you have a part number for a 6AN fittings for the 3/8" and 5/16" that will work for the vette filter/reg and not interfere with each other? Driving me crazy trying to resolve the dilemma. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Curt

The fix that i believe would work (have not done it personally) is get a late 90's corvette engine braided stainless fuel disconnect lines for the fuel rail. The supply is 3/8th and return is 5/16th, and should slip on the filter. I think this pair is about 14" long and run about $30.00. With this pair installed on the filter reg, you can terminate how you wish and where you wish on the other end.

When i did my ls i formed all of my lines with my mastercool hydraulic former, and used inverted flair connections as needed. This former can make inverted flair, push connect, and o'ring style ends. I'm running a return style fuel lines with a supply and return at the engine as per 2000 silverado and a gm fuel filter (no regulator).

Intresting, I'll look up those style lines/fittlings. The set up I'm building is a return less 2009 6.0Liter with a Boyd tank at the rear. I'm planning on mounting the regulator just in front of the shock cross member tucked in the rail and a stainless hard line from the regulator to the fuel rail. Returns and supply to the regulator to tank will be 6AN Fragola PTFE. I purchased the same mastercool hydraulic flaring tool and it makes life way easier The bonus is the gm fuel line dies so we'll see how it stands up to 3/8" stainless tube. I'm just stuck on these darn fittings and have every thing else ready to go, but will document the process as much as possible. Thanks, I can use all the help I can get. This fuel line has been intmidating to start but it's all down hill from there.

theres basically little to no pressure on the return side..it just dumps back into the tank with no restriction...i used a -an to 1/4npt and then a hose barb then rubber fuel line and clamps to tank...I don't recall having any issues...I may have bent the inlet side out a little...cant remember... but it is close...I used wix....which one are you using?

Mine did the same thing with Russel fittings. I think I just slightly pulled the two lines apart putting a slight bend on the outer line and that allowed the fittings to slide on. I would put the middle one on first and then the outer. This might sound crazy but the bend is very little and never had a problem. I’ll see if I can find a photo.

He's got a NAPA. Should be identical to the WIX since WIX makes the NAPA stuff.

Looks like Russel fittings are what most are using . Must be smaller in diameter .

I think they also make it with the push on with the metal cap as well . More secure than the plastic locks

Get a browser add-on. We posted about this in the big Photobucket threads in the general section. We can't fix the service, but we can fix our own access to it.

DO NOT USE 640863 & 640940 THEY HAVE A DEFECTIVE INTERNAL RETAINER. The Mfg'r has been contacted and served a # of times regarding this product but refuses to recall because that would admit fault. The plastic retainers to not properly seat on the barbs and can pull off under pressure. There are huuuuge horror stories on the net about these resulting in fires.

In my personal experience, my return fitting popped off while leaving a gas station resulting in a huge puddle of fuel leaking and trailing from my truck back to the gas station (~300ft), and pumping the return fuel onto my headers. I got lucky and my motor was cold after a rest stop, but if the headers had a chance to get warm, I would have been a fireball.

If you want the plastic ones, you can have my old ones at your own risk. The second series fixed the issue with the screw on metal retainer.

Well this stinks with photo bucket , I haven’t posted any pictures in a while. No to good with computers and was posting pics with my I pad. I’m not real sure what a browser add on is and if it’s compatible with an I pad. I read the thread in the general section but still don’t understand it please help.

Under where you type in your reply there is "additional options" and a button "manage attachments" select manage attachments and choose photos "files" from your computer. When you do select a picture only upload one photo at a time because trying to upload to many at once doesn't seem to work. After your done uploading you can select "close this window" and it will take you back to the reply screen. Hope this helps

I've heard nightmare stories about these fittings and stayed away from them. That's why I leaned toward the "fast" threaded fitting for the fuel rail and regulator. I'm gonna try to make these work.

Did this and put a small tweak in the two and now I can use the threaded quick connect! Thanks man, I believe this will work out. Truck is orange already and don't want it to be "flame" orange

If I was to bend one I would bent the outside connection . The one in the middle ( 5/16 ) has a diaphragm behind it and could obscure the pressure . The 3/8 one is only attached to the housing .

Not my picture but one I had found a while back .

dont feel bad daaanz...im no computer man either..ive also read that stuff on the fix but still don't understand it either..

im with homemade87...if your gonna tweak a fitting it needs to be the inlet...pretty sure that's what I did on mine...

Are you using Safari, Chrome, or Firefox? A browser add-on (or extension), is something you can "add" to your browser to fix issues, change function, or modify some preferences. If you let me know what your using, I can point you in the right direction.

Its no more than a few clicks, and solves the photobucket issue.

Alright, 3/8" side as advised is bent and both fittings clear. When in doubt get the bigger hammer out I appreciate everyones advise on this. Thanks, Curt

I do everything from my IPad think it’s safari thanks for offering to help.

That flaring tool makes flaring lines a breeze! I got mine at Tooltipia.com, it's about the cheapest place to get one, its still not cheap, but worth it if you do a lot of flaring.
