scan tool hookup?

I have tried to hookup my scan tool to my 2000 GMC to check out a DTC. The tool is a Innova brand OBD2. Not the cheapest but certainly not the most expensive out there. It has always worked great on my other trucks. But for some reason it doesn't on this truck. It should power up when attached to the truck but it does not. When I turn on the key the scanner comes on but has no connection to the trucks' computer.
According to the tool's book when that happens look for a blown fuse on the truck. I don't find any blown fuse.
Anyone have similar experiences ?

Re: scan tool hookup?

Does your cigarette lighter work? The OBDII port and cig lighter are powered by the same fuse.

Re: scan tool hookup?

That's what I was looking for. Sure nuff the fuse was missing and located under the hood in the electrical power center. Now it works. I have a PO 420. I cleared it and will wait to see if it comes back. Thanks man.
