95 4Wheel to 2 wheel drive
Just bought a 95 swb 4x4 with a rebuilt engine, trans and transfer case. Got a great deal and i have a complete 5.3 out of a 2004 burb.
The 5.3 was going to go into my 65 Burb but Wolfdaddy wanted it more. I want to convert this 95 4 wheel drive into a 2 wheel drive and install the 5.3 engine and trans into it. No problems with the engine swap and yes i want a 2wheel drive. I have nice 6 lug wheels and I have the complete front 2 wheel suspension from the 2004. What do I need to convert the front suspension to 2 wheeld rive on the 95. The 4x4 has torsion bars for springs and sits a little high. I know I can pull the front shafts and just use the stubs to keep the wheel bearings together but I would like it lower. Are any parts from the 2004 usable? will the 95 4x4 frame accept coil springs? could I use a 2 wheel front end from a 88-99. The rear is easy just change shackles and maybe brackets. What do I do? for the suspension swap, cheap and simple, maybe Thanks, Steve |

Re: 95 4Wheel to 2 wheel drive
I just parted out an '06 2WD 2500HD that had a 4WD spindle on one side and a 2WD on the other...you might get away with just removing the CV axles. I don't think any of the newer body style parts will fit on your truck. Lowering is a lot easier than coil spring, just get lowering keys.

Re: 95 4Wheel to 2 wheel drive
Leave the front suspension and install a 4wd lowering kit IMO. Put your 5.3 and trans in and be done.

Re: 95 4Wheel to 2 wheel drive
? no need to change to an expensive wiring harness. I always use stock harennes that I modify to fit. Been doing that for ever on TBI, TPI, vortec and especially the las motors, easy easy.
