I could try to figure it out. If it's already online, you could PM a link. If it's still in the PDF, PM me & I'll send you my email address.

Re: GM Semis

Thanks, worth a try. It's a PDF that was e-mailed to me. So I can forward that to you. I never claimed to know all that much about computer use. What you've seen me do is my limit. Hopefully I can learn something new. PM coming your way

I like the flashy tilt cabs, but that first one got me bad. Love how it looks. No BS, set-up, with some nice cosmetic touches.

I especially dig seeing that C30 with chrome Budds and graphcs. Just what I remember running all over when I lived in CA

But I wanted to add a picture here

Re: GM Semis

Yep, California cool took my truck love to new levels. California clean, too! The truck/trailer polished stainless tankers to hay wagons to dump trucks. Not to mention doubles. The long western frames, Peterbilts and Kenworths all over when not so many running back East at that time. Up north it was the logging rigs and piggyback lumber trucks. Lots of pride in trucks in the west. Rolling all night across the plains brought out the hot rods running wide open throttle that came and went so fast with a sound that was unforgetable.

Thank you NoStepN for getting these posted. Now can you possibly explain how you did it in a PM? I sure would appreciate learning how to do this. I have other pictures Dan sent me I could never post up.

Great pictures of the Preston truck.

Look at all the space between the Grille and Radiator.

Re: GM Semis

The transformation was really pretty simple. They just grafted an extension on the frame and fabricated an extended hood.

I know that's over simplified, but.

It also made it look like a "Set-Back Front Axle" but it really wasn't.

Re: GM Semis

read a story a while back on storyonline.net about a guy that worked as a welder on a drilling rig got out settled in a trailerpark , and started with a one person welding company and grew till he was building nascar chassis and a whole bunch of other stuff (he just about was wearing a red cape with a four leaf clover surounded by a horseshoe on him ) he allso had multiple wifes one with the biggest h..... never mind back on topic
one thing the story mentioned was he develloped a bodykit made for long haul truckers to replace everything above the chassis that reduced fuel consumption , think the writer had that truck in his mind when he wrote that part

Re: GM Semis

It resembles the direction fleet hauler construction came to be today, except the narrow eyed look. It's neat that a trucking company took this upon themselves to do rather than wait for manufacturers to catch up. I wonder why they scrapped the idea. Maybe it didn't save fuel after all? To expensive for the gain in fuel economy. DOT didn't like something a bout it, such as safety?

Now I want to go to Brandywine Truck Parts to see what they have sitting there these days. We have a cool yard I have yet to visit, R.L. Jackson in Port Deposit, MD. He has old trucks/parts. Got to try to get there before the bees and snakes . Probably waited too long, getting too busy for such foolishness. We went to that museum in Feb, so at least dd that. Next winter if not this year

Re: GM Semis

WOW-----Thank God and Greyhound, I was able to log on to tell stories again !

To any that used their political influence, I thank you, because this forum is more user friendly than F-book !

The RL Jackson yard that Special K mentioned was like a time warp for me probably 20 years ago with Richard "Dick" Shaefer . Now, If I could remember another Maryland yard that I visited the year of the Baltimore convention...........was it 2006 ?

Regarding the aero nose on the Preston Bridadier, I thought utilizing a snowplow frame extension would be strong enough to support the cosmetics.

Re: GM Semis

There he is, (Detroit) Diesel Dan. They say most of the parts from Jackson go to Central and South America these days. There is Maryland Truck Parts Sales & Salvage in Easton on the Eastern Shore.
