250 idle troubleshoot. Please help!!!
I have an 81 k10 250 i6 that I believe has the integrated head. The idle on it is VERY high and it sucks gas like no other. Sometimes when I start it the idle is a little lower and it sounds much better, but once I hit the gas and let off the idle goes back up. I'm thinking maybe the Choke is stuck? Just put a new carburetor on it a year to a year and a half ago and I don't get what the problem is. The Idle is only really high in Park or Neutral, when I put it in to drive or reverse the idle goes way down, but sometimes after I hit the gas once I let off it goes up slightly again. I do not have a tac so I don't know exactly how high it is, but It sounds like around 2,000 rpm or so, way too high. The idle does not go down at all after the truck is warmed up. There is also a decent amount of slack in the throttle cable.. Maybe too much? Please help!!!!

I made a comment on your other thread.
BTW it's not kosher to have two or more threads in different sections. Agin the rules. |

Why does it matter...? It's not like I'm spamming or anything, I posted one thread in two different sections because some people may just look at the engine section, and others may just look at the truck section. Just trying to get help. Not like I posted it 10 times or anything.

Re. high idle in park and neutral. Things to check.
Do you have an a/c idle up solenoid? (check images) It's to increase the a/c idle when on in drive but decreases it in neutral or park. Disconnect all vacuum hoses from the carb and temporarily plug them up -vacuum advance, power brake booster, transmission modulator. Electrical tape will work. If you have a vacuum leak in any of those it will increase your idle. However, I suspect the idle up/down solenoid.

It's a 2 barrel, Here is a few pictures. I dont know alot just a few basics. Only 17 going to be going to automotive school soon. Anythng obvious you see that could be wrong? Any ideas are useful. Only reason the hole on top of the valve cover is exposed is because I took the air cleaner off.
