If you are doing a budget build, then forget the rockers as you will gain nothing.

Re: Looking for some roller rockers

There's an excellent episode (#29) of Engine Masters showing a dyno comparison of several rocker configurations on a small block Chevy. Bottom line is that for most engines they do not add any power.

Not sure if it's on YouTube yet, but it is available on Motor Trend On Demand. Definitely worth the $5/mo.

Re: Looking for some roller rockers

If you're looking to get a little more lift or duration without changing the cam then that might be a good way to do it. I run them just to reduce friction, wear and heat, every bit helps. Otherwise spend some money on a good set of aftermarket valve springs and pushrods. Just having pushrods all the same length will gain you some power. Also a desktop dyno type program helps a lot. You'd be surprised how a certain intake or even exhaust pipe size will change things. The key is matching everything up as a system. I've daily driven an S10 Blazer with a mildy built 305 for the last 16 years. Most people have never seen a 305 run like mine and can hardly believe it's "mildly" built. For instance....the dyno program showed me losing about 18hp with 2.5" dual exhaust versus 2"!!!!
