i was wondering if anyone uses the shackel flip? ive read alot about it, i was thinking of buying the 4" rear made by offraod design. currently i have blocks in the rear. it looks like the real deal, but i want input from someone who uses it. also i like the way the front flip by hill 4wheel drive looks. its 1" upgrade, but then i would have to find 1" blocks for the rear, ive never even heard of 1" blocks? any input? i can throw in some pictures from the web sites if you dont know what im talking about

I've got the rear shackle flip from Offroad Design and really like it. They also sell a thing called a Zero Rate that will give you 1" lift in the rear and it is center pinned to the spring pack.

You can check out the install of the shackle flip at my website listed in my sig on the install page.

I haven't heard of Hill Four Wheel Drive's flip.

I have a 4 inch flip in the rear with 2 inch Blocks and 3 inch Body. Rides pretty decent.

its really more of an extra hanger, but increases the lift by 1", i need to check out that zero rate. thought i read about everything in the offroad site...
also did you catch the 4x4 park link i posted for you?

Yukon has been very happy with his shackle flip, but note that he has a 3/4 ton truck. Most factory blazers sag in the rear BEFORE they are 5 years old! My stock Jimmy springs were just too soft IMO for pulling a trailer, and the rear was lower than the front. I went first with blocks and add-a-leaves, but sag was again an issue, then I bent the perches with the blocks. It now has 4" National HD spring packs.

Mike C, you are right, i didnt notice yukon was running a 3/4 ton. i really want to get rid of blocks alltogether.
Prerunner-ck5 is where i found out about both flips, thats a great site, and i hope everyone here checks it out.

This is what I did to get 4" without blocks
These are the front perches off the rear springs on a I believe '74 blazer..
I just butted them against my hitch. It gave me perfect angle on the 14 bolt I have under my blazer..
Just drilled 4 holes and welded the edges and center..
Haven't broke yet and I have jumped out of plenty of mud holes

Another person just reminded me on one of the drawbacks of the shackle flip - it moves the rear axle forward a bit in the wheel well. I didn't care cause I knew I was going to go with a flatbed, but might matter to you.

hey jack, doesnt the zero rate kinda solve that? i read the description about it and it says it will move it an 1 1/2" forward or rear

Yep, I believe that will get it back pretty close to where it should be. Jeez, I must be getting old, forgot I mentioned the zero rate earlier in the post :-)

i plan on going with the shackel flip too... but im on limited cash and will be doing it myself.. i do have the nessacary tools welde grinder etc... could someone make a complete list of stuff needed to complete it.. i have 4 inch springs/blocks and just want to get rid of the blocks

my friend did a homemade shakle flip by cutting the bottom out and making the shakle hang down instead of upward. it works real well. no extra stuff needed, unless your hardware is shot
