Re: 1988-1998 Reg. Cab Shortbeds

My 89 model with some subtle body mods, only thing changed on the suspension is the 2" drop shackles in rear but I want to go with a 3/4 drop in the near future using the DJM products.

The driveline is a stock 5.7 TBI / 700R4 / 10 bolt for now but in a couple years it will be 25 years old and qualify for Georgia's emissions exempt status, it will then be reclassified and get a hot little small block.

I am looking very heavily at the Year One / Power Crate 350 motor.

Not sure if the 295/50's will work with the future drop and I also have a set of freshly painted 8" truck rally's that I want rolling instead of the Eagle Alloys.

Some very nice rides here and I am enjoying my stay on the forum.

Edit: I just realized how bad the driver's door is sagging in that last pic; I've "fixed" it with a hydraulic jack since then.

those are LED Tail lights? where did you get those? I like the fact that they resemble the stock lights instead of the euro styled look LED type

I've got the same LED tails on my Suburban...

I even topped them off with some white LED reverse light bulbs.

They can also be had with smoked reverse lenses...

...or even in non-LED flavors if you desire...

I got mine off of eBay from seller gt_racers. They ran me $123 to my door. I picked up another set more recently for a friend of mine and they were only $109 total. I also noticed that his more recent lights are slightly different than mine. They have the same basic look, but his have a few more rear-facing LEDs and they have 3 sidemarker LEDs as opposed to the single sidemarker LED of mine. No biggie, though. I still love these tails and feel that they are the best-looking aftermarket tails money can buy for these trucks. Plus, the LEDs are amazingly bright. You will have no worries at all about whether anyone can see you stopping like you would with some of the crappy Euro clear taillights out there.

Re: 1988-1998 Reg. Cab Shortbeds

Awesome. Thanks for the info. I will totally be buying a pair for my 88 boyd truck. I wantes to update the truck a little but without compromising the overall look of the truck. Id like to get led turn signals too if I can find them without the dumb euro clear lenses. I like the look of led lights but I dont care for the whole euro style crap. Thanks for the info those look awesome

Yep. They have the modern transparent look, but still hold to the style of the original tails, with a little twist.

All of the LED parking lights I've seen for these trucks look like total dog crap and I hear the quality of them is generally on par with that. Some nice, quality, clear headlights and parking lamps do the same thing as the LED tails. They give it an updated look, without taking away from the truck.

And if I ever get my GMC grille painted to go on, I'll be doing the same thing with some transparent amber sidemarkers too...

You know you did a good job waxing when you can see the front porch in the side of the truck! I like that navy blue, and I like those 338s.

Skrach, 1bad beat me to it -- I got mine from the same place and I've been really happy with them. People who know these trucks do kind of a double take when they see them, and people who aren't familiar with them never even realize they aren't OE.

Re: 1988-1998 Reg. Cab Shortbeds

this is one of the other paint schemes i was thinking about it still has the indigo blue in it. deciding on paint colors has got to be the hardest part of a build.

@ Ibadgmc ,

I do like the look of those leds, Ive got a simular set even though i've got less rear facing leds even though they are really bright so I dont think visability will be a problem and mine were right on par with the 120-130 range that you paid.

and a close up

Here is mine,it's a 1990.I bought it from a friend after it was hit in the front. It's at the frame shop now being pulled because the bumper would not line up...very minor bend but it showed the bumper was down about a inch on the left side...

>>>Plan to have it on the road in a few weeks...
