Who sells quality 3 in lowering springs?

Hey Guys
I have 2 in spindles and 2 in lowering springs wanting to drop another in would you recommend cutting the springs or replace them with the 3 in springs?

Anyone ever tried this setup?

Or cut off 1/2" from the total spring height.

Or run a shorter tire. Helps with fender well clearance and easy swap.

Keep in mind that 1" at the spring is approx 1.6"-1.7" at the wheel.

And if cutting less than a full coil, the spring won't seat on one end. I also suspect you'll hear creaks and groans when the end that's not seated moves around.

On another note, cut springs are stiffer springs. For example, a 2" drop spring will have a smoother ride that stock height spring minus one coil.

Bottom line: I like the idea someone had above about using a shorter tire.

Running a shorter tire will increase the fender gap, which is what most people are trying to get rid of when lowering....

Re: Who sells quality 3 in lowering springs?

Years ago right after I purchased my 94. I cut my brand new Eibach springs before I even put them on my truck. They did not make a 3" drop coil. I say go for it, worst thing that happens is you will need to get another set of coils. Be conservative when cutting the coil, you cannot put the material back. I would say start with about a half coil. I like to put the coil in a bucket of water with just the top sticking out and use a cutoff wheel. You may have to pull them in and out a couple of times to get right where you want, but it costs nothing but time and maybe a cutoff wheel or two. Don't forget to roll truck after setting it back on the ground so everything is settled where it goes. Good luck!
