Blazer Frame swap

Question for the experts. I have a 72 K5 that I want to make 2wd. Can I get a shortebed C10 frame and set the Blazer body on it? I mean I know I can, I want to know if there are some serious things I have to do to get the body on, or does the body just lay right on it?

Thanks

Re: Blazer Frame swap

Shortbed frame is longer than your blazer frame.
It's easier to add the 2wd crossmember to your existing frame.

Re: Blazer Frame swap

71-72 C10 donor with disk brakes would have many of the parts you will need for conversion, you will still need to fab up some rear spring mounts unless your going with an axle flip. Also driveshaft length will depend on transmission and engine placement.

Re: Blazer Frame swap

73-87 front swap crossmember swap works too. Need a 2wd steering box. (just something about the tie rod ends) . You can run with rear leafs unless you want to get creative. Find a 5 lug rear and swap that in or keep with the 6 lug and get a later model Tahoe rear with disc brakes and use a 73-87 c20 front disc crossmember. Lots of 6 lug modern wheel choices... a lot depends on what you want for looks... original or custom.
