71 sierra grande find

So while looking for parts for my 70 c/10 I came across this 71 gmc sierra grande 1500. Typical rust at bottom of the cab, but its all there. Alot of good options. Im getting it towed home in a week. I got it at a very good price.

Re: 71 sierra grande find

Those are some nice options.

I have to laugh at some of them, though. Like "floorboard" and "front and rear shock absorbers". If you didn't specify those, would your truck come riding only on springs and with no floor, kind of like a Flintstone special?

Floorboard means they ordered a wood floor bed, otherwise the bed floor would be steel.

Re: 71 sierra grande find

The wooden bed is rough, but all there. I need to get a master cylinder and fuel pump. It has potential, Im going to clean it up and see if I can get it road worthy. My wife is going to be pissed when she finds out.

Re: 71 sierra grande find

Sean, where was your truck produced? I thought it (dome lamp sw on SPID) was an Ottawa plant-only thing, but maybe not the case.
And welcome to the site Sevierville, I'm jealous. How many times have you been to Floyd Garrett's museum!?!?!

Re: 71 sierra grande find

Thank you. My truck was built in the flint plant. I’ve never been to that museum but my dad has sold a car ore two to them before

How about a pic of the project truck that led you to this gem?

The dome lamp switch option should mean the optional switches in the front door jambs that automatically turn the dome light on when you open the door....

Does the hydraulic brake assist mean a hydroboost?

Re: 71 sierra grande find

The truck was suppose to be delivered yesterday, due to our bad snow storm the tow truck couldnt do the tow. No problems.
So im suppose to get it on the 26th now. Not the end of the world. There is a wood bed in fair shape under the bed liner, and a side tool box in the bed.

Re: 71 sierra grande find

What's odd about the dome lamp switch option is they were included with the Sierra Grande option. Nice find! Let me know how mad you wife gets. Maybe I could help eliminate the problem

No factory hydroboost in these trucks. It just means that it has power brakes.
