Thanks. I got all the wood, stain, and Polyurethane "poly" from Lowes. I used the premium pine wood. I thought it turned out good for our first try.

Railroader - where did you source those boards/planks/sheets? I like it!

Cali Bamboo, link below. They have several designs and width. The composite material is heavier than wood but is solid color throughout, advertised to be resistance to water and won't rot. Down here in the South, poly beds look good but don't last.

If you decide to use this material make sure you get 3/4" Boards in order to go under side rails of bed. 1" won't work. Be happy to discuss in more detail if you should use like material.

Re: Bed Wood Replacement

I also plan on using composite for my bed wood. Need to re-do my deck and front landing, plan on using the same material in the truck. Truck is yellow, boards will be "New England Blue", think it will look OK, different anyway. Thanks for the links and tip about board thickness.

Re: Bed Wood Replacement

Word of caution. The composite boards are created under lots of pressure. If you cut one lengthwise (say side pieces to go under bed edge plate), install that piece. If you don't the cut piece will bow. I guess the cutting releases the compression.

I cut one and left overnight, not good. Next day I had to cut another one.

Re: Bed Wood Replacement

I cut my composite boards, they sat in my garage for weeks, then they sat in the bed, not bolted down, for days. No issues.

Re: Bed Wood Replacement

Cutting diagonal (shorten) was no problem. It was when I cut one vertical (narrow) that I had the issue. Maybe just me. Just saying.

Re: Bed Wood Replacement

Good to know it may be a problem.
