Hood Rust Repair

It seems that the front lip of the squarebody hood (at least the early design) has a built-in water trap resulting in cancer coming from the inside out (see pic). I'm sure over 50% of these hoods have this same problem. What are some options for making repairs in this area? Thanks in advance!

Re: Hood Rust Repair

I have a spare hood that is in great shape, but has a little rust coming through along the front like that. It is pretty flat there, I was just planning on cutting the rust out, and welding in some new metal.

Re: Hood Rust Repair

I'll be honest with you unless your just wanting to keep the OE hood I'd replace it with a repro unit, by the time you cut the rust out and create a patch panel or buy a patch panel and weld it in do the finish work and repaint you can start with a new hood and repaint it. That's my 2 cents worth but I do understand wanting to keep OE parts.
