Re: Harmonic balancer
More info, what type of engine, how old is the balancer currently, what are your power and use goals?

Re: Harmonic balancer
Y well I was basically just asking a general question but for more information I've got a 3:55 World product heads pretty good size cam about 470 lift I know that I'm not making near enough horsepower to be concerned about my harmonic balancer but yet still curious how much horsepower can a stock GM 350 harmonic balancer take b4 spins off the rubber

Re: Harmonic balancer
A 50 year old one, could separate any time. If it hasn't had oil leaking on it for the past 20 years I'd guess 350-400 for a stock one is a ok, as long as you're not spinning it to the moon regularly. My blue print 427SBC that dyno's 525+ came from BP with a $35 stock style damper...I run it down the strip so I went ahead and changed out to an ATI for the SFI rating incase tech at a track wants to bust balls.
