07 classic speaker problem?

Just had to replace my speakers in my truck. Both front and back on the left side would not play so I just replaced all 4 with infintys.
Sounds much better than stock but I was wondering if anybody else was having trouble with theres.

My father in law has a 04 hd and he is having trouble with his. Was wondering if this is a common problem with this model. Both of ours are crewcabs.

Re: 07 classic speaker problem?

I just noticed my 03 left side messing up the other day. I know mine is prob due to cranking it a little too much though.

Re: 07 classic speaker problem?

Yes, the stock speakers suck. The only system worth a crap in these trucks is the bose one with the console amp. The rest suck.

I have some infinities in my ext cab doors, but still stock up front, haven't swapped them yet for good ones, but I have replaced them once already with freebies I was given from another silverado because they had that "blown" sound.

Re: 07 classic speaker problem?

Speakers gone out on my 2000 GMC too. Stock radio and speakers though. I don't know if I should go back with OE or aftermarket ones. I am very satisfied with the factory sound. Or was when they were working.

Re: 07 classic speaker problem?

I would change them out Boog. I could not belive how CHEAP the stock speakers were. The magnet would barely stick to metal. I am really proud I upgraded!

I agree. They are cheap, but I am really impressed how well the system sounds. They have come along way since the systems in my 84, and heck even the one in my old 94.

Re: 07 classic speaker problem?

Yea, those speakers are terrible. We own a car audio shop, and that body style truck is probably the most common truck for speaker replacement. Everybody loses those speakers. I hold the shop record for changing the front speakers, 7 minutes for both doors

Re: 07 classic speaker problem?

Funny this thread popped up recently...

I took the truck to the pick n pull today... and it sounds like both front speakers have bitten the dust. I had to turn the bass way down, they were making that blown paper cone vibration sound when a bass note hit. I only normally have my bass set a little past half anyway.

Could the cold have finally done them in? They were fine when I drove it a few days ago. Oh well, I should have swapped them out a long time ago anyway.

Re: 07 classic speaker problem?

I am a GM service tech and have a 06 Silverado that has had both front door speakers replaced. Now that I am out of warranty, I will go aftermarket (prob look on Crutchfield's site) when I need new ones.
I just replaced two today in a 07 new body style truck. They are prone to fail. I usually like factory parts, but on the speakers go with something like pioneers.

Re: 07 classic speaker problem?

Any known issues on the Bose systems? I would almost bet Bose is the manufacturer for Delco on the base systems too, but with (marginally) better speakers, I am hoping they do not have the same problems. My '07 is the first vehicle I have kept the stock stereo in and was hoping to keep it that way! Bose's strange amps and weird impedence can be a pain in the ass for any modifications.

Re: 07 classic speaker problem?

I had the non-Bose speakers in my 07, but I didn't leave them in long enough to have any problems. The stock head unit was replaced with in 24 hours with an Alpine unit and I replaced the speakers with in 2 months of buying the truck.

Only real prob I have seen on these is ocassionally the amp in the console will crap out.
