yep! Was trying to figure out if it was really noticeable or not. Glad it is cause it took forever with a razor blade to get it off.

Haha yeah it's noticeable, especially compared to your older pictures, big difference. Good job! Wanna come clean mine too? lol

Re: 77 Silverado Build thread

Installed 2" drop shackles.

Also grabbed some chrome guard trim that my stepdad didn't want to use on his Chevelle. It doesn't go over the body line at the top of the door like the stock kind but I think it looks fine. Saved a good 20$

Re: 77 Silverado Build thread

Finally got around to replacing my speedometer cable. I was sooo tired of the screeching and bouncing. I unplugged it a couple of days ago because it was so loud and it still made noise. I got my new one from LMC and installed it.

Upon taking apart my old one I found out that I had a two piece cable. Don't know why. Measuring everything and the new single piece was about the same size so I just used that. The old cable had so much crap and gunk in it that I'm not surprised that it didn't work. Also the plastic sheath that it is in was shot.

First photo is the old one. Second is new one.

Re: 77 Silverado Build thread

Not much to do but I can cross out fender well trim on my immediate things to purchase. Found these on eBay and they seem nice.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/330576815451...84.m1439.l2649

Hopefully they will be here next week before I head to San Antonio the week after for my robotics competition. I think it will brighten up the truck...really need some contrast on the fender and inner fender. Afterwords definitely getting the under back window cab trim and vent shades.

Side note: anyone want the 67 Chevelle? Probably going to put it on eBay this Sunday. Want something new like a 57 chevy!

Re: 77 Silverado Build thread

Got the fender trim today (felt like it traveled here by camel, but it was free shipping) and going to install it tonight.

My starter went out Monday night so I had to get it towed Tuesday (funny thing is, our friend with the tow truck said it started right up when he got there). The starter was starting to fail and wouldn't work after the engine warmed up. Got a new one at O'Riellys and installed it last night. It was kinda a pain cause your trying to hold a like 30lb starter, the bolts for it, and the wires all at the same time. But I got it done and it works like a champ!

I'll post pics tonight of the trim.

Re: 77 Silverado Build thread

Got the fender trim on today. I have to say I wasn't impressed. The fit wasn't well. You are supposed to put these "clip" things in and bend them over the lip of the fender and also drill holes for screws. Well the bottom lip of the trim didn't even make it to the fender so I could only drill a few holes on some and screw it in. The rest I had to use these clip things. I just hope it will hold on when I go down the highway at 70.

Seems kinda solid though.

Re: 77 Silverado Build thread

Ordered two Hella 7" HB2 Conversion lights and the LMC headlight relay harness. I'm going to take some pictures tomorrow morning on my way to Aibeliene of my current headlights and then when I get back in a week my parts should be here and I can install and take comparison photos.

Re: 77 Silverado Build thread

Well got back from my FIRST robotics competition in San Antonio. Tied for 3rd out of 65. Fun stuff.

While I was away my Hello conversion lights showed up. These look really cool. I ordered the Hella Vision Plus DOT/SAE approved HB2 conversion lights. They are less curved and less textured than the original sealed beams so that means less light going in funky directions.

My harness from LMC came in aswell. Seems pretty well made. 2 relays with connectors on, power wires, grounds, headlight connectors on, and also a spot to hook up your current headlight harness so no splicing or cutting required. I just hate the yellow wire covers so I got to dig up some black wire loom.

Heading over to the shop Tuesday (cause I got my Eagle board of review tomorrow night) to install them. As promised a week ago here are pictures of the stock sealed beams on high and low in the dark.

Re: 77 Silverado Build thread

Swung by the shop today and got the LMC headlight relay system and my new Hella HB2 conversion lights in. Relay kit was really nice, only had to change 2 eyelets on the wiring because they were to small for the original headlight ground bolt. Tied the power into and accessory wire on the battery cable because it just looks tacky having the connectors on the side post battery. Overall good quality but I absolutely hate the ugly yellow cover. Black wire loom in the future.

Here are some pictures of the lights on high/low.

Re: 77 Silverado Build thread

Really great news today. We are selling the Chevelle and are going to buy a 57 Chevy and today went to "look" at and engine for it. Well I thought we were, but the engine turned out to be a 350 (my stepdad told me it was a big block even though he knew it wasn't) and we are getting it for my truck! AC Delco rebuild from 2000 that was sealed in the crate until today. Needs water pump, intake, carb, balancer, distributor, and what not because it is just the block and heads.

Really glad I'm getting a new engine and I won't have to worry about this tired one crapping out on me all the time. Probably going sometime this week when my dad can take me to fix the fuel filter and get it working.

Re: 77 Silverado Build thread

nice build you have going. also you have the same look i am going for on my 85 for now. if you get the engine thats been sitting for a while make sure you check every intake and exaust port looking for dobbers and lil critters. in motor assembley cleanlieness is next to perfection. i spent 3hrs cleaning and pressure washing my heads, intake, and oilpan yesterday. spent another 2 1/2 hrs cleaning my shortblock and checking rod and crank bearings. just to get ready for dropping the heads and intake and oilpan on today. i really like the headlight conversion ( i love the yellow loom too) i am painting the motor a bright/safety yellow. something different

good work and sweet truck

It's not going to be a power house but hopefully come out a little more than stock. I'm thinking about going with and Edelbrock 2701 Performer EPS intake combo with an Edelbrock 1406 600cfm carburetor. MSD ignition distributor and 8mm wires and getting rid of the vacuum/emissions crap so hopefully I can get more power without having to sacrifice mpg. Anything is better than my current 2 barrel.

On that note, I cleaned my carb really well with cleaner and apparently the gunk on it was keeping it from leaking. Now literally all of my gaskets leak fuel and my truck is grounded. Going to try to pull the carb off today or tomorrow and take it to get it rebuilt. Really sucks to have to put money into the current shotty carb when I'm getting a new one in a couple of months but I just don't have the money to drop onto the new intake/carb combo right now.

Thanks! Well talked over with my dad and he agreed to buy me a new carburetor if I can get the intake. Not the original plan but both of us agree it is the better plan. Going to go look at a barley used Edelbrock 2701 intake tonight so hopefully I can get it going soon!

Re: 77 Silverado Build thread

Just got back with a SCORE! Intake is basically brand spanking new. No cracks, stripped bolt holes and not even any grease and grime on it. Guys 68 Camaro was freaking awesome too! Going to pick up my new 1406 this weekend and hopefully get the new stuff installed and driving by the end of the next week. Got to love Craigslist!
