Wheel hop anyone?

I've been pretty busy and haven't posted any progress on my 47 lately, but I got plates and insurance on it and have been driving it around for a week or two now to start working the bugs out of it. The 454 has plenty of power but this thing wheel hops so bad in first that you pretty much have to baby it from a stop and then roll into it from 10-15 MPH. Anyone else running RB obsolete rear springs on there truck and having problems? I might just have to try some traction bars.

Re: Wheel hop anyone?

Weel hop is from spring wrap up and unloading. some options to help elimiate it are stagered shocks like on the stock late model trucks . one in front of the axle and one in the rear. The other is traction bars to keep the spring from wraping up altogether. or drop another leaf in the stack.

Look up Cal-Trac, I think that is the name of the bars. I had looked into them at one time, but I just learned how to not wrap up the springs, and keep my foot out of it!!!!!!!!

Re: Wheel hop anyone?

Thanks for the responses guys. I think I will try some kind of traction bar first, maybe an adjustable one with hiems. I know I won't be able to keep my foot out of it, it's just too fun not to!

Re: Wheel hop anyone?

I like the add a leaf, mod it to be longer on the side wherer there is the hop, it will act like a traction bar but less effective.
