Re: new to this part with a 1959 fleetside
I want to see photos! I bought a brand new th350 from summit, I then added a cross member to support it. Then changed my rear to an 87 Camaro. While I was at it I added a new TCI rear leaf to get the rear closer to earth, then came the lokar shifter and the new driveshaft. The costs add up

I'd suggest putting in a 700r4 if you are going to go through the hassle of changing out the trans. It will give you an overdrive, so if you do some highway driving it won't rev really high.

Are you absolutely sure you want to lose the manual trans? I think it could be very serviceable depending how you plan to use the truck. Save you something going on $2,000. Or you can take your chances on a locally rebuilt one for a lot less, but you get what you get.....
