Not really any updates its been to cold and my spending cash is being eaten up heating my house. I did manage to get the exhaust built but did'nt take pics yet.

On your frame to put the Blazer on its side - is the box tubing touching the side of the body on the floor side?
Or is all the weight on the (four?) bolts holding the L to the frame? Did your bolts bend at all with this setup?

My "L" shaped rig for tipping it has some old exhaust pipe welded on that the bolts go through. Actually i had to use threaded rod because in the rear the bolts had to be 12 inches or so. I did not have any of the bolts bend. It does not touch the body on the bottom side but i had to make it real close so i would have room to tip it with my low ceiling. Once it was tipped up i used blocks under my cross braces that were across the top of the bed for extra support. Also i used a rope to ease it over when tipping ,i did it alone, but if you have help it would be cake without it.

put the windshield in and also started the soundproofing on the firewall. I'm waiting for my firewall pad set to come in so i can install the wiring, heater/AC parts, parking brake pedal, dashpad, glove box, and gauges. I gotta remember to take pics of the exhaust that is done except for some turndowns.

I have been working on the blazer a lot lately. I took a bunch of pics the other day and i'm going to catch up the build thread over the next couple days.
here are some pics of the exhaust, what you can see of it at least. I used the newer style hanger because i like the clean look.

I also change the parking brake cables to this newer style system. It works great and it is simple.

I got the heater core and a\c evaporator installed. I changed the evaporator to one that would go in a late 90's van. It was real close to the same size as the original but is for 134a. I plan to buy a sanden type compressor and buy or make the hoses. I'm going to look at a salvage yard for a suitable 134a condensor. I also rearranged the wiring so that all the engine wiring comes out near the wires that go to the rear lights. I never liked the wiring in the channel across the firewall. On the inside i pulled the connectors out of the fuse block plug that i wanted to re-route and used an old fuse block plug as a connector.

The evap. core i used is for a late 90's astro van. napa part #288097. It fit almost perfect. I had to use some foam gasket i got from the hardware store to seal one side because there was about a 1/4 inch gap. I also fabbed a filler peice to fit around the top tube. I changed it because i like the cleaner less cluttered look of the newer system and my system had a leak and i didnt want to mess around with the old parts. I plan to run 134a refrigerant so i will probably get a sanden type compressor and a 134a condenser. I have the accumulator/drier also i cant remember what that fits but it will point the fittings in the right direction. I dont know the retail price because i get a discount through work. It was less than $100 with my discount. I probably wont get the a/c finished until this winter my truck budget it spent for the year.

playing with a design for my custom seat backs and rear side panels. I used some of it to make this new avatar. I took a photo of the scroll on the factory door panel and traced it out and traced a photo of the k5 emblem.

made these seat backs from mdf board. It takes several coats of primer with sanding in between to get the edges smooth but the result looks pretty good. My plan is to have the design that i posted engraved into them. The guy that is supposed to do it is too backed up and i want them on for the adirondack nationals so i'm gonna redo them over the winter.

i have also been working on making the rear seat fold down. The seat i have is not from a 72. I got it out of a 69 blazer but i think its really from a 73 or newer. I'm not sure what the differences are besides the mounts, I just welded some plates with holes drilled and tapped where the mounts need to go. After several hours of trial and error i came up with this setup. I wanted it to look somewhat factory. The tricky part is making it fit between the wheel wells. I used iron water pipe for the new peice that runs from the arm rest down. The first pic shows my fancy bender, next are the new pieces, then the modded part of the seat, after that is the almost finished product. I need to fix up my cheap autozone cover.

Took the blazer on its first long trip this weekend. My fiance and i drove to lake george, NY for the adirondack nationals car show. It was a 300 mile round trip and we averaged 9 miles per gallon. It was a blast the local police block off a section of streets that form a loop and only show cars can get in. They do this from 8pm to 10pm and it make this show far better than any other show i have been to. anyway here are a sample of the pics i took.
