gas gauge sticking on Full

I just bought a 2002 Blazer Extreme.
When the key/ignition is turned on the gas gauge goes to Full and stays. I know the tank is nearly empty because I have driven close to 200 miles on the last tank fill.
When the key/ignition is turned off the gas gauge goes back down to Empty.

Any suggestions of what to look for?

I know enough about electrical to make me dangerous.

I'll bet your check engine light is on also with I believe a code P0463

Fuel level sender is bad. The tiny little fingers that wipe across the resistor are broken. Dorman makes a sender but since it has metal and plastic I ouldnt trust it. Go AC Delco
