Here is my neighbors '78 Silverado 5.7L. She's been sittin awhile, but no matter how long, two cranks and she fires right up every time.

350 diesels searved their purpose at the time. want power out of it? there is 1 model of John Deere engines that has injectors that JUST fit. dont expect the engine to last too long tho

A little late on the post, but I figure this might help someone in the future:




That is not the original color GM painted the 350 diesels and the valve cover stickers are not original either, but everything else is factory.

Actually the block isn't the same. GM built them with the larger big block main journals. This is part of the reason that racers get the diesel blocks and build them. They are beefier. You can swap to gas. At least cam, heads and ignition system need changed out. Pretty sure a thing or two needs done to the front of the block too as the injection pump drive ran from the front.
