Inside rim lip hitting PB control arms

I put brand new porterbuilt upper and lower control arms on my 85 last weekend. I’m having a problem with the inside lip of my rims hitting the control arms when I turn sharp. There are no steer stops so I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do about this. Any suggestions?

I have contacted PB but haven’t heard back from them.

Sorry the control arms are filthy but it’s been raining here.

What rims do you have, I'm sure it has mostly to do with back spacing,

I figured that. 17” eagle alloy. I can’t remember the off set though. I bought them 9 years ago.

My cragars were going to hit the knuckle on the drop spindles I got from mcgaughy. I ordered a .25" spacer to fix the problem. There's a picture that's relatively recent on my build thread of it.

Small wheel spacer, ftw. At least to get you by.

Yea I believe I’ll try the spacers. I’ll make some kind of spacer this weekend to see what size I’ll need to go with.

We used washers and put the wheels on with 2 bolts until it cleared, measured the stack of washers and went to look for a spacer about that size.

Thats what we are going to do today. I liked look through you build thread. Looks like y’all took your time and did it right. That was my problem when I first built this truck is I got in a hurry and didn’t do it the way I should have from the get go. Now 8 years later I’m changing a lot of stuff.

Re: Inside rim lip hitting PB control arms

I finally got in touch with Porterbuilt and found out I have the wrong lower control arms for my set up. They are sending me the correct ones so that should take care of my problem, I hope.
