I'm painting the rears the same cast iron grey with a trim ring to make them match a lil. Till I find the right slotted mags.

Sweet man!!! Thanks a bunch. I think you're on the right track with painting the rears with trim rings for the time being.

Re: 60-66 Tire/Wheel Pics

Hey Chevy mike, yeah I did use a '71 rearend. The track is one inch wider than the stock one on each side. I figure I'll be cool with a pair of new Ansen sprints cause they have a back spacing of -4", with will fit just like these steelies on now. (cross my fingers)

I always figured I'd get really deep baby moons.
My truck had these on them when I bought it.
I like them a lot.

I'm not sure.
The tires are 295/50 R15
Using this, I would guess they are 10's

I'll try and get an actual measurement when I get it in my shop/barn.

It’s kind of funny they thought bringing the Rocket name back would be inspiring to the nostalgia crowd. The new wheels are probably great, just like the new Rader Mags. But back in the day Radir, Rocket, and Astro mags were not considered very good wheels. They were all two piece with an aluminum center and steel rim, either welded or bolted together. They were heavy, and the ones that were bolted together were prone to leakage, out of round/out of balance problems, and fractures.

I bought a pair of Rocket 5 spoke mags when I first got back from Vietnam because they were half the cost of Americans. Here’s a picture of them on my 63 Galaxie in 1970:

They looked exactly like American Torque Thrusts, but were indeed really cheap wheels. The aluminum spokes and cosmetic aluminum rim covered the face of the steel rim all the way to the tire. They worked fine until the first monkey tried changing tires with an automatic tire machine and bent the front of the aluminum rim edge down against the steel rim and cracked it.

This has nothing to do with the quality of the current production wheels, just interesting the new company doesn’t appreciate the Rocket name use to reflect the same quality level as Fenton products.

Yea,

My dad had a set of 15x10' a couple of years ago.
He still has 2 14x8 Rocket Racing 5 Spoke Wheels with the Spinners on them.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=371199

They remind me of Cragers. He said they were kinda popular back then.
