Leaf spring line question

Took the front springs out of my '53 AD truck. Took the leaves apart. Going to grind off the rust and paint them. Should I use the vinyl spring liner between every leaf or just the longer ones? -or- Skip the liner and put white lithium grease between the leaves after painting.

Re: Leaf spring line question

Sandblast them and paint them all together. No reason to take them apart...

take them apart, grind or blast them, paint & re assemble. that way you don't have grit between the leaves. I installed the Teflon liner many years ago & it still works well. it was worth it.

Did you put liner between every leaf?
Update: I found teflon buttons at ATS Suspension products. They also had Kwik Clips for 1 3/4" springs.
Update ll: After speaking with Nostalgia Sid who is making me an adjustable drag link I'm going with the liner between every leaf.

Re: Leaf spring line question

Liner is great. The longer the leaf, the more effective it is. Doesn't do much on the top leaves but what does it hurt to install it anyway?
