Question about rust in drip rail (I think)

Hello everyone!

This is my first post, as I am considering purchasing a 1955 3100 (Second Series). I was looking at a truck I liked overall, but noticed that the only area that had any major rust problems was the drip rail. Now, forgive me, I think I am calling it by the correct name, but it is the area that has a ridge up at the top of the cab, above the door, that goes around the top and the back. You can definitely notice the bubbling in the channel, though it hasn't actually broken through the paint or anything.

My question is: Is this a common problem? And if so, is it usually a major job to get fixed properly? I am likely going to take the car to a body shop prior to any purchase, but wanted some thoughts on this type of issue. Thanks for any advice for the newbie!

welcome...yes...drip rail...
very common rust area..not a cheap or easy fix if its to bad...that looks like seam sealer or caulk...may be rust underneath..it needs removed and redone
