Well at least I know why my power steering does not work

My '75 Chevy 70 series was really a bearcat to drive. I pulled the lines off of the power steering pump to check for out put and got NOTHING.....so I figured if I was lucky the bypass valve inline with the output was stuck open....so I pulled that out as well. A handful of broken vanes came out in my hand......NAPA swears my truck does not exist..... Even their "heavy duty" department for over the road rigs has no listings for the J/H series trucks. Any of you all know where a guy might get a Saginaw power steering pump for this thing?

This fell out in my hand when I pulled the pressure fitting off the back of the pump.

Re: Well at least I know why my power steering does not work

www.cardone.com has a good listing for medium/heavy truck water pumps, steering pumps, and brake boosters.

1975 Chevy 70, H and J series show the same three pumps:

20-300 bushing style pump w/o reservoir
20-301 snap ring style pump w/o reservoir w/ mounting hole at middle right
20-302 snap ring style pump w/o reservoir w/ mounting hole at extreme right

You can google each number or check their website, there are pictures for each pump.

Take the pump down to the store and see if they can match it up

The pumps are basically all the same from the 60s till they stopped using them. You can buy a bare pump and install it in the can you already have...
