tach doesnt work?!?!

ok, ive got the green wire going to the TACH port on the HEI, ive got the black grounded to a bolt (good ground, got another gauge grounded there and it works) white slid in above panel lights, and red hooked up to a hot spot on the fuse block (hooked a wire up to that spot and sparked it on the door to make sure it was hot), but my tach will not move for anything...what gives?

oh yeah, autometer 3 3/4 inch tach

Double check all your connections. I know I have messed up on the green one more than once. (it felt like it was in)
If all checks out good...sounds like a bum tach.

damn Josh, get a volt meter. Sparking a wire against the door probably blew the fuse.

hehe, i was using some of the unfused ports liek radio and cig lighter and stuff. hmmm.... i got a voltmeter in the dash, maybe i need to check all the ports with that.....hmmm....
climb in there and check out the tach thing on the HEI (having no inner fenderwells is cool for workinng in there)

it's still stupid IMHO to arc a wire to see if there's juice.....

hehe, yeah, it is but i didnt know how that voltmeter worked....and i didnt think it did because it wouldnt show any volts, found out that one was a bad ground. now it reads 16 once the truck gets running, according to my book though it should only have 14-15?
