Advice lowering rear only

67 c10 fleetside. It has the "helper" leaf (factory option) in back. But it's coil, not leaf.

Here is a pic of how the truck sits. Those 24" wheels are going, I'm gonna put some 17 inch ones as soon as I can find something.

Anyway, the rear sits too high. I want to get it the same height as the front without spending a ton of money.

I remember cutting the coils on a 69 Firebird that I had, but ended up lower than I would have liked, plus I hear people saying that cutting the coils can be dangerous (mine never gave me trouble).

Any advice on getting it the right height? I think I will most likely get the new rims before too long, should I wait?

I would wait till you get the new wheels on it. Then look at about how much lower you want the entire trick. You may find with the new wheels and tires you may want to bring it down on both ends. On the rear you cant cut them. They have a special wind on both ends that the retainer plate goes on to hold the spring under the truck. Easy way to go lower is just to swap the springs.

And I agree, the new wheels should probably be on first...

I would like to know how low I can go without a c notch if anyone can advise.

Easily go 4 1/2 in the front with 2 1/2 drop spindles and 2 inch springs and 5" springs in the back. You will need to cut the bump stops down but it leaves you room to use the truck and not bottom out all the time.

Lowered it 2 inches yesterday. 1 hour, 68 bucks for the lowering kit. Much better.

why does the rear wheel look not centered?

Always been that way. I have no idea. Everything looks good underneath and it handles as well as can be expected.
