Blue on Blue or Black on Blue interior

Hi all,
My truck is going to be bright blue metallic - like Nassau Blue. I am going to do the interior in a 1970 custom deluxe look. I am trying to decide between gray/black interior - or blue interior. I am leaning toward the black but my wife thinks the blue it "cooler" looking. After looking at the blues I'm finding it hard to match the carpet, seatbelts and seat cover together. Also a little afraid of being blued out! Any thots? I am including a few pics from others trucks I have found.

1st pic and 3 pic is the seat cover I going to order. The blue paint in the pics is close to what I will be painting.

Why are you changing? I get the "retro" look but seems looking at blue on blue every day may be too much

Re: Blue on Blue or Black on Blue interior

Been going over this also. I plan on a two tone paint and want interior to match. Blue/silver outside but not sure I want blue inside. Black seems to go well with most colors so I may settle for black/blue interior.

Re: Blue on Blue or Black on Blue interior

Mine is the color that is close to the Nassau Blue, and it had all light blue interior - it was just too much for me, so I chose to replace everything inside to black - door panels, carpet, sun visors, dash - seat black but went with dark blue and black houndstooth panels in the bench seat..

Re: Blue on Blue or Black on Blue interior

I vote blue on blue. I might be a minority, but I enjoy colored interiors that aren't the everyday blacks, grays, or tans that we see today in everything. Something about the bright blues, bright reds, turquoise, etc interiors feels right in a classic.

I went 3 tone. Blue with blue seat, black carpet gray dash pad and visors. Have black door panels at the moment. Still a work in progress

Re: Blue on Blue or Black on Blue interior

I do like the blue. Black just seems easier. One of the things that has been a frustration to me with the blue is matching the blues. It bothers me when the blues clash with each other. For example I ordered the blue ACC carpet from rockauto and almost looks to be a royal blue. Now I need to pay to return it and order from somewhere else that has a lighter shade of blue. Then the vinyl in the seatcover is a bright metallic blue like in the pictures. Then I am trying to get seatbelts and they are either an aqua blue, powder light blue or a dark blue that clashes with everything else. I ordered samples of electric blue, powder blue, blue, and one other and all seem to clash or are wrong shade. Then there is the custom deluxe door panels which seem to match the seat cover and the dash pad but the arm rests are again a light blue that don't quite match. How are you guys dealing with this and finding the right shade of blue?

Re: Blue on Blue or Black on Blue interior

Blue, maybe blue and black like the 2nd pic so you don’t get the frustration of matching the blues as much. In my opinion black interiors can end up looking like black holes so break it up with painted blue at least.

I have a 64 impala with full blue interior, it has I believe 5 different blues going on. That's just the way it was back then.

In response to that statement, I'm going to stick my neck out and say that maybe we have been happily married a tad bit longer than you?

Re: Blue on Blue or Black on Blue interior

Go with blue and black. WAAAAY to much blue when u do everything in blue. I'm doing the same thing except in red/black. Besides, it does clash with so many different blues, or reds in my case. The mix of colors just breaks components up to the eye. They aren't one blob of a particular color. Just my opinion.

If I go blue then what color seatbelts is everyone getting? It looks like all the main seatbelt providers have the same colors/part #s for their belts.
