4x4 Blazer swap in s-10

Hi Everyone,
I recently picked up a 2004 4x4 blazer rear for the s10 I'm putting under my '49. It has a cup welded on that I'm assuming is for a coil spring set up? Can I cut and grind that off and use the bottom bracket with the lower shock mount that was on the s10 rear that I took out? Thanks for any input you can offer.

Re: 4x4 Blazer swap in s-10

I'm sorry, I don't think my post was very clear. It's a 1995 s-10 that I'll have under my '49 3100. I have a rear out of a 2004 blazer that I wanted to use bc of the extra width.

Never seen a s10 with rear coils...you sure it's a s10?
Got any pics of the axle?

Re: 4x4 Blazer swap in s-10

I'm hoping the pics uploaded. The blazer rear has cups on it, and I don't see where I'd mount the shock to it. The s10 rear that I took out had a bracket that the U-bolts when through and it had a lower shock mount attached to it.

those are just pads for the big frame mounted bumpstops that are on blazers. you can cut them off and move on.

the shock mounts are part of the leaf spring holders. you use leafs on the bottom of the axle, then those shock mounts, the u bolts go over the axle and clamp everything together just the way it was before.

Re: 4x4 Blazer swap in s-10

cut them off with a zip disc, less heat transfer to the axle tube so less chance of warping the tube.
you should still use some sort of bump stop, maybe not that particular axle pad but something. the S10 bee's nest bump stop style works well at absorbing the shock. otherwise get dental insurance so when the suspension bottoms out your teeth stay intact, lol.
