Top paint

They finally put the color coat on the top yesterday. Been quite a wait, but it is pretty much flawless. I cant wait to get it on the Jimmy and see how it looks with the top on. Its been probably 10years.. lol.

Re: Top paint

Looks brand new. Sweet. My top is pretty junky to do anything like that. It would need a lot of love first. I just taped mine off and spraypainted it with outdoor latex paint. Held up pretty good and looks decent. Yours is definitely in great shape.

Re: Top paint

I'm sure some work went into it. I wasn't doughting that part. I'm sure it wasn't cheap. They charge us a grand to fix and repaint our hoods on our Volvo tractors at the place my company uses.

Re: Top paint

That looks very clean. Just be very careful that you don't flex it too much. The paint will crack very easy. Just ask me how I know

Re: Top paint

I hauled it on my trailer and lagged it down to the bed to keep from having straps mess up the new paint. My trailer didn't flex but i noticed a crack in the paint when i got home about 250 miles later. Me and a buddy unloaded it and it was kind of a pita for 2 guys and it flexed on us. I didn't have as nice of a job done so maybe that will be the difference.

Re: Top paint

Nice, it looks like a single wall right? Where did you have the work done and did you fix any breaks or cracks?

Re: Top paint

I want to do the same to mine. I have a buddy who does glass work so it's on the agenda. I have a single wall as well and just picked up some sliding side windows for it today. Was it pricey to have the work done?

Re: Top paint

Blazerowner look at the before and after pics in by build thread of my top. The top is not nearly as nice as Tom's but is was reasonable considering the amount of work. The guy is close to you up in Orangevale. I'll see if I can find his contact info if interested.

Tom I'm sorry to hi jack your thread just helping out a fellow board member

PS the top is beautiful

Re: Top paint

Hey guys sorry I slaked on this. The guys name is Don Pasch. Im not sure if the contact info is still good or not as it has been over a year since I dealt with him. Here is the phone number an email address I have for him.

(916)889-9793
dngandolph@hotmail.com

Here is my disclaimer: Do not use this guy if you are looking for a show quality job. My top was in bad shape and he brought it back to life. Idid not pay the $5000 someone quoted me to fix it, not even close. It was a fair price for a decent job. He knows fiberglass however I think my top was the first one he had worked on. I hope this helps.
