The build sheet is definitely under the seat. I peeked under and its there. But not much of it left. I am going to pull the seat out this weekend and try to get pictures of whats left. I am hoping to get some answers from it.

Oh that is fantastic. Happy for you...but for me too. There's going to be some info on that build sheet that will help me on my truck.

For the 71 you're building (not building)? Or do you have another one?

The Custom Camper option was the nameplate-only but the option demanded HD springs that could be ordered on any truck. The pinstripe option would have no effect on the side trim, other than a CST which got the upper trim as an included option. All Custom trim trucks got black accent lower trim and rear end trim including the trim across the bottom of the tailgate.

That was available in 71/72

As we've seen in so many cases, any interior/exterior color combination was possible. And there are many cases that show exceptions to what is stated in the dealer order books. For instance, my '71 book states that only a painted front bumper was available on K-models and that is not at all the case

Dark and medium gold poly '70. A handsome color combination

Please correct me, but I think Z62 trucks got all the bright work around the glass, but I believe to have the lower molding would have had to have BX2 call out. Of course as is well established there are anomalies and exceptions. But I don't think this truck left the factory with molding or a chrome gas cap. (Assuming I'm not missing anything on the SPID).

See Z62 details and an original paint '71 Z62 with no moldings below.

I crawled all around the truck last night with a flashlight and I wasn't able to see any evidence of lower trim hole/ bodywork to cover them. Still had the factory rubberized coating on the back side. Took a door panel off and found no evidence of lower trim holes. The truck didn't have taillight housings so I was able to feel behind the outer skin and I cant feel any evidence of holes there either. So I'm fairly certain this truck didn't come with lower trim or the trim around the taillights or tailgate.

Re: Mountain Find - 1970 GMC K2500

I've really slacked off on keeping up with all the nitty gritty factory data. I did know this about the trim. The trim is not an automatic feature of the Custom trim option, but 99% of them did come through with the trim.

There certainly are exceptions to what is in print. The first one of these trucks I owned was a Highlander with upper trim-only, 3spd so no tilt, solid color, and no a/c. Very odd to be a Highlander that had so much of this savings package deleted. It wasn't ordered for the savings but more to get some Highlander features otherwise unavailable

Here are the build sheet pictures or what's left of it unfortunately. Was bought new in Pueblo Colorado from Wilcoxson GMC. That dealership is still in business and in the same location its been in since 1967.

Re: Mountain Find - 1970 GMC K2500

Also found this cool piece of cardboard behind the gas tank. My question is, the cardboard has the dealership name the truck was bought from and why would they put cardboard behind the tank after it was delivered from the factory to the dealership? Or was the tank replaced by the dealership at some point and they put the cardboard there to prevent rubbing?

Thanks for posting this. Would have loved more (since your truck is so close to mine in config and options), but I'll take what I can get. Got one nugget for sure. 1970 4WD steering gear yellow pull decal should have a "C". The rear spring pull code is tantalizingly close. If you can look in box 49 and tell me what those two letters are, I'd appreciate it.

Look what I found on the back of the seat when I removed the aftermarket seat cover!!!! I hope this helps more than the scraps from under the seat. Looks like box 49 is GE

I agree. Was it common for them to put one under the seat and one on the back? I've never seen a truck with 2 of them.

Pretty cool.
I have seen them with one on the seat and one taped to the tank.
But, I have never seen one on the back and the bottom of the seat.

I found one in jigsaw pieces in the passenger door. Maybe it had fallen off being taped to the window. Fremont truck. I've since lost it.

Not sure to be honest but I seem to recall one member finding three total in one truck.

Is there a service available that can offer the complete history of a vehicle similar to what is done if you own a Ford? Ford owners do not have to rely on a sheet of paper that eventually disintegrates over time.https://www.martiauto.com/martireports.cfm
