I do have a 4' box and pan brake as well as (2) 10' brakes (one is for sale) as well as a 10' air operated shear. I build electric signs for a living since 88 and had my own shop since 95. If I can get my 10' roper witney brake sold I want to purchase a larger throat box and pan brake. I am limited to 3" deep right now.

Nice, I would like to have a small box brake, some of the parts I fabricate are pretty crude!

A word of advice... don't cheap out if you buy one. I bought my 1st one from northern tool (chinese crap) and ended up giving it away. Spend a few dollars more for a good one. There are usually a few used one s on market place. Tennsmith, Chicago and Roper Whitney are a couple of good ones I have had experience with. My Roper 4' box and pan is listed as a 22 ga brake. I normally am bending .040 aluminum on it but it will bend 16ga steel with no issue

Picture of my box brake as well as the 10' Roper that is for sale

Re: 69 shop truck

thankfully I have what is left of a floor from a 70 I parted so the only new parts costing money will be all 4 cab supports. I was able to peel the cab corner & rocker off of the patch section and get that rear cab corner section cleaned up so I can patch the very outer edge. The front floor section I cut out will have to be made from some more 16ga. The only reason I cut a full pc for the side wall is so there will be no weld down low that would need filler skim coat. I did it so that the seams can be seam sealed or covered by the door gasket. Trying to keep bodywork to bare minimum, although there will be a couple spots on the exterior that will need some once i weld the patches in. I am not going for perfect at all. Just want to slow things down a bit and get to enjoy it some.

It is coming along nicely. That brake is a good piece of equipment to have if your doing any type of restoration work. I need to invest in one myself one day.

Thanks
I am doing more metal work on this than I told myself I would but I figure I want my feet to stay dry if I get caught driving in the rain.

I had a man stop by out of the blue this afternoon and bought my brake that was for sale so that will free back up some space in the shop. Spent most of the day today cleaning up from around the truck and got it up on stands.

Re: 69 shop truck

Finally got a chance to remove the bed today. Been too cold to work and too expensive to run the K1 heaters. Trying to find a bed in a bit better condition but needed to work on the cab corners anyway. Would like to try to get them cut and welded in tomorrow. Passenger side is original corner and still not too bad other than down real low. Drivers side has already been replaced once and needs it again.

Re: 69 shop truck

That ain't rust. That there is crust, young man. A little more time on that and you could bottle it and sell as an iron dietary supplement
I'm just going to have to stop hating rust and embrace it. Might even make me politically correct

That work's all looking great there, Richard. Two thumbs up
