Relay a/c blower ??

I have 1 of these on my 72 GMC with a/c. However, the American Autowire kit didn't come with any harness to connect it to. I have a LS motor in my truck and I want to get my a/c working. Currently my blower fan will not blow on hi. I will be changing the heater resistor to see if that fixes the problem. Anyway, what exactly does this do and does it need to be wired in for my a/c to work?

Re: Relay a/c blower ??

You have to buy a separate AC harness. It runs from the fuse block to the resister, relay, blower motor and ac compressor. One brown wire from the main cab harness goes to the blower switch plug (which is also part of the AC harness). You just slide it in the plug. I just finished installing a complete American harness tonight!

This is mounted up by the fuse block in my 72 GMC truck.

Re: Relay a/c blower ??

Thats the horn relay if there is only one by your fuse block. if you have two relays the second one is for emissions. the AC relay is on the right side of the plenumn next to the pass side vent.

Re: Relay a/c blower ??

When I tore me truck apart for paint there were 2 relays up by fuse block. There were wires going to it just don't remember what they were. I put it back up in there. This is a new one I bought and returned. Napa calls this a relay a/c blower which is exactly what I have up by fuse block. Didn't they change this in 72?

Wink Re: Relay a/c blower ??

The relay you posted is an AC relay but it belongs where I described earlier. My 72 had all 3 relays 2 by the fuse block and one by pass side vent. The new wire harness wire lengths all worked out for my 72 with AC with the AC relay as I described.
