Re: The Story of the Eagle Ventures Hood

Thank you for reviving this thread, I've never seen it or these hoods before. I wish the board did a better job at preserving historical threads like this.

That's good to note. They obviously copied the design, but I wonder if it's a completely copied knock off outer skin, and I wonder how BillD feels about that considering he put so much effort into initial design and marketing only to have to shut down operations.

Luv your TX Steel Processors brush guard. I just bought one that is on its way to me. I can't wait to see it on my 71 Jimmy. That "Fort Worth 6, Texas" address on the connector bar is almost worth the price of admission.

You can buy it either way, just have them install stiffeners. Talked to John at auto fab, he said the hood pins were used to stop the chance of the hood flying up, if you failed to latch it right.

25% lighter than the original hood

I had Autofab's hood and fenders on my 76 Blazer Prerunner. Although I used 6 pins for the hood and Dzus fasteners for the fenders. The hood flexed so much that you had to run 4 pins across the front or else it would lift at speed. You could bond it to the original inner hood frame. Then it would be stiff and you could use the stock hinges and latch. That's pretty common with Porsche 911 fiberglass hoods.
