Re: 65 Panel Truck "RWC"

How much play? If 1/8" or less, that's fairly normal. Might save you from opening it up.

Thanks, I will have to take a second look when I get home. I know a little play is normal, I've just found so many "half done/unfinished" things in this truck...

Re: 65 Panel Truck "RWC"

Good news, I measured the axle "play" last night, it was less than an 1/8". I did reseat 4 wheel studs though.

Now I will just clean it up, lubricate and be thankful.

Re: 65 Panel Truck "RWC"

Went out to work on the panel today, but worked on my daughter's truck and her friend's car. Necessary maintenance, but never got to the panel...such is life.

On a different note, I got this cool panel truck off eBay.

Re: 65 Panel Truck "RWC"

I have not been reading much recently, so missed your build thread.

I have always loved short panel vans.

Yours looks especially good.

And your daughters S10 as well, I would love an S10, either version, but ideally fleetside, extra cab.

Hey thanks, you must be an old 605. I started in Little Rock AFB as a port Load. I spent 13 years on the C-130 and then 8 years on the C-5A. It has been a great career.

Re: 65 Panel Truck "RWC"

Thanks for all the compliments, she's a fun truck. As Grandpa would say, I call her a 10 footer (she looks good from 10 feet). She's far from perfect, but like most of my vehicles fun to drive.

Here's some pics from the yard.

so several wheel studs were not seated, several ruined old lug nuts & washers later...everything is seated.

It's scary that I was cruising around like that.

This is how I have mounted my seat for now, gonna drive it a few times and see if I like the height and such. Definitely more comfortable than the bench.

Re: 65 Panel Truck "RWC"

So I am working on some misc. things. I am going to add a PCV valve and breather setup, I am running the brake booster to the manifold. Right now it is run to the front of the carb where I will run the PCV.

I now realize that I should have taken some pics.

Re: 65 Panel Truck "RWC"

Today I met Tim aka Special-K, great guy, and bought 4 steel wheels. I will paint them red and put on dog dish hubcaps.

They bolt up nicely, now to get my whitewalls put on (225/75R15).

Test coat, I will check it after work today. I think it’s gonna match pretty good. Then I can paint all four and mount the tires!

This is Valspar primer + paint from Lowes. It's rattle can, and that shot is just one coat, I couldn't believe the coverage.

My plan is to paint today, let everything cure for a week and then get the tires mounted.

I like your Burb by the way.

Re: 65 Panel Truck "RWC"

I replaced the glove box, not too bad. First pic-old liner, second pic- new liner.

I admit that I read somebody else's experience and that prepared me for the install. I found out why the glove box door rattles, a busted bushing on one side. I purchased new ones off eBay, now I just have to install them.
