I figured this would be a good subject to start, so here I am

This is my first vehicle (I'm only 17) so i'd like a little information. I know the 402 is a fairly uncommon engine and I also know the "Custom Camper" package is a little uncommon as well, but I know virtually nothing else about the other things that were ordered for this truck in terms of rarity, so could someone enlighten me? Any help will be appreciated.

Thats a nicely optioned truck. Tool box door and aux tank are good options to have

Well first off welcome to the board from another 17 year old Oregonian! Looks like a nice truck with tool box, sway bar and the aux tanks, but we are going to need some more pictures

Here are some pics of it. Not much to look at, but I like it that way. I think the rust, and dirt gives it a little more character than it would normally have. The camper is going to be taken off, and I'm going to repaint the valve covers to match the air cleaner at some point. I also need to modify the riser that is on the carburetor so the hood will close completely. Nothing quite like an old Chevy truck.

Welcome to the board! I have a big block Custom Camper too. I was originally looking for a short bed C10 and this one fell into my lap. Now that I have it I absolutely love it, wouldn't have it any other way. Enjoy it!

Mine isn't stock, so I was just curious, how quick was it stock? Assuming it was stock when you got it.

Quick? Lol In stock format these trucks were built to haul, not race. They moved along just fine tho. I had a built 402 which was fairly mean & moved my old '72 Longhorn 1T with ease, but I'd say my built '71 350 3/4T was probably quicker. Now neither were stock, 3/4T vs 1T both with 4.10 or 4.56 gears I forget now.

Well yeah, I know they're meant for heavy hauling and what not, that's what trucks were supposed to be used for, I was just curious. Mine has a rebuilt Rochester quadrajet, an aluminum intake, port and polished heads and dual exhaust with no cats, so even though it's fairly quick to me it's not in stock shape and thus not representative of how quick that type of truck was bone stock, that's why I ask. If you don't know what the Farmtruck is, go to YouTube and look up "Farmtruck wheelie" and look at the one that has a little over a million views, that's my goal for my truck ... Lol.

Yeah pretty sure everybody knows Farmtruck around here lol. As far as power/quickness differences between your current setup vs stock it'd really depend on you heads & your overall gain. 100hp/tq roughly equals a 1 second gain in the quarter mile. Less say you got an extra 100hp/tq vs stock you'd be 1 second quicker. You'd feel it of course when drive them.

Welcome aboard!

Not to be a "pendant" but what you have posted is called a "SPID" label (Service Parts ID label). It is a service document to help identify replacement parts for when the vehicle is in the consumer's ownership.

A build sheet looks like the document posted below, and is used to help faciliate the build in the assembly plant.

Enjoy it! __________________ 1971 Chevy Custom Camper/20, Hugger Orange with White Top 31,000 original miles (when purchased), 402, TH400, PS, PB, AC As of May 2017 it now has a turbo LS in it! (Still looks stock though)
