68 C10 Q:How thick are the Radiator Support Mounts?

I really need to know How thick mm or Inches are the Radiator support bushings that go between the Radiator support and frame mounted Bracket for a 68 C10 1/2 ton.

ALSO....2 years ago I got in to a wreck....pretty bad...ripped the radiator support out of the 68s right frame bracket and tore the bracket apart. I replaced it with a 70's bracket (its all I could find!!!). it all seemed to line up well aside from the hole being larger..I dont remember.

I am planning on replacing the other side with a 70s bracket as well...if the frame is straight will these brackets line up center and height wise as the 68 brackets? I know the 68 and 70 bushings are way different...was planning on getting or fabbing the simpler 68 bushings. Just seeing if I will run into any serious problems aside from the difference in hole diameter.

Re: 68 C10 Q:How thick are the Radiator Support Mounts?

I'd like to know this as well... anyone have a set in a box that they can measure? I really only need to know how thick the rubber is as I have the washers already.

Edit: found another post in which someone sais "The rubber insulator pads for the 60-68 core support are around 1/8 in thick" ... with the single 1/8" washer that's 1/4" total.

Re: 68 C10 Q:How thick are the Radiator Support Mounts?

I like the design of the 69+ mounts better; I'm thinking I'll open up the bracket holes and trim down the later bushing to the correct height, so that measurement verification would be greatly appreciated!

×2. I have a 68 and bought a set of core support bushings advertized for 67-72 which i later found out were for 69-72 only. I had already widened the frame hole by 1/16 inch to accomodate the bushing, so now im wonderimg if i can simply cut the bushing down to acheve the correct height... would love to know for sure the correct height between the rad support and frame when installed.

I saw a secondary source that said ~1/4 so I think that's what I'm going to go with. That's not a lot of material though, so I might use a thinner than stock washer between the rad support and bushing.

I finally remembered to do this and mine measure 1/4+, which means they are a smidge thicker than a quarter inch....

I made some out of a piece of truck mud flap once and they worked good. That was before you could buy them.
