Ssscore!

Just got home with the future powerplant for the 'Burb: a standard bore, '657-code 327 long block, w/heads, forged crank, rods, and a lot of the small stuff. The date on the '480 (small valve, truck) heads matches the block so they're, no doubt, original to it, and the pad numbers work out to a 4 bbl. 220 HP from a pickup. So I'm pretty pumped I've secured what looks like a great start to, basically, an exact correct powerplant for the Sub - for $200.

The goods:

"YS" = 220HP, 4bbl., manual trans.

Can anyone tell me for sure if these are the correct heads for a 220HP truck application?

Rods, pistons, valves, hardware, etc., and a good original timing chain cover and balancer that are for sale. PM me if interested.

My book says that the 3814480 heads were used on both the 283 and 327 from 1962 to 1967. My owners manual shows only the 220 HP 327 with 8.5:1 compression for 1967. If the date codes match, I would guess that you have the correct 327 heads for your 1967 Burb. Nice find.

Re: Ssscore!

Thanks. That's what the internet sources I found said, too, but I'd rather trust a book for my information when possible. Yes, the 220HP is the only one I've seen listed for the 10 and 20 series in '67.
