Front drivers side wheel clicking with speed

Hello,

I'm getting clicking above 5-10 mph that sounds like playing cards in a bicycle spoke. It's relative to my speed and sounds as if it's coming directly from my drivers side front hub (K10). No play in the wheel. When coming to a stop I also get a sudden "clunk", then quiet until I hit 5-10 mph, then click click click.

Does this sound like an accurate symptom of a failing auto hub or wheel bearing?

I had a set of those auto locker hubs once that my uncle gave me..they started that clicking noise..then they disintegrated...there was a plastic dololly in there that wadded up..went back to manual hubs and never looked back

Okay just making sure that's the deal.

Another question, is the hub/rotor all one piece? Rockauto shows multiple rotors that "fit", but only one that is an all in one hub/rotor. Do I need to get the all in one or will does the hub come off the rotor and go back on a new, cheaper rotor?

I'd jackup that corner and pull the wheel off so you can look at everything..you may get your answer quickly by just rotating the hub with no load on it..check your rotor while your there to see what you need

Do you happen to have a dust shield on the backside that may have gotten whacked and bent out of shape? Thought this might be the cause till I reread your post about the "clunk".

Re: Front drivers side wheel clicking with speed

My first thought was the the universal, but could be in the hub as well. It is easy enough to turn the wheels and inspect the universal.

Re: Front drivers side wheel clicking with speed

I pulled the wheel. What exactly am I looking for? I don't hear any clicking when I spin the rotor. I know my rotors are warped so I'll be replacing them anyways.

Does the hub portion separate from the rotor?

Since I'll be pulling it all apart anyways to do the brakes, I'll swap over to warn manual hubs, new wheel bearings and new axle u joints. Anything else while I'm in there?

Re: Front drivers side wheel clicking with speed

I have a question. I am putting my axle back into the axle housing. I am holding up an axle seal to the axle where I think it should go. Except for it keeps the axle from going into the housing all the way. Is there supposed to be a seal of some sort on this part of the axle?

I like Haynes the best ,I have some Chiltons also,Haynes seem to be more thorough and also have good wiring diagrams
