Plum Crazy C10 from a land far away

Hi Guys

Im doing a frame off on my 67 SWB stepside C10 here in the UAE and wanted to share my journey so far but first, here are my other ladies

68 Chevelle LQ4/4L80E in BMW/Audi Java Green

69 Chevelle, 350/700R4 in BMW Atlantis Blue

72 Vette, Edelbrock 350 Pro-flow EFI crate/TH400

83 BMW 633CSi

92 Mercedes SL300-24

98 BMW 750iL V12

So here is the latest addition to the family, 67 SWB stepside C10
Here is the Ebay Ad (later to find out, its the understatement of the century)

Ebay Auction Pics

45 days later, it arrived to my part of the world only to find out the engine is jammed, cracked windshield and the passenger side hood hinge is so bent the hood closes sideways.

Managed to free the engine and get it running, installed a CS144 140Amp alternator, my spare holley double pumper carb, electric fans and a radiator. Parked it at home till the 69 Chevelle finished its turn at restoration....and thats where the real fun starts

Front clip comes out

Remove the cracked windshield to find this nasty surprise

Both rockers were goners, lucky i ordered inners and outers when i shipped the car

Now the fun part where you wonder what the PO was smoking on...

Instead of the 350, its a 305

The engine stands were from a I6 in V8 position without the bottom bolts so the whole engine weight was resting on the top bolts

Thats the manual tranny crossmember, instead of removing it, PO just quickly cut through it

Engine/tranny out

Removed the cabin to find this surprise, PO welded the tranny crossmember instead of bolting it.....crooked!

Escorting the tow truck back from the sandblaster

Who needs a fancy AC system when you can have fresh air!

Everything from the cabin onwards was primed to prevent further rust while new sheet metal was ordered

Notice the pattern here? PO welded everything rather than bolt it...and its not even good welds!

Here is how the frame sits waiting for its turn to be sandblasted

Iv chosen plum crazy purple as the color and anything chrome will either be painted matte black or matte gray...still havent decided

What is the hourly shop rate in Abu Dhabi? You sure are taking on a labor of love there.

We work with a different system here, we agree on a price before the job is started. In my case, we agreed on 14,000 Dirhams which amounts to $3811 plus any mechanical work later needed.

Update time, took the day off work and drove about 3 hours to pick this up.
State side people aren't familiar with it, its a '06 Chevy Lumina SS which would be the predecessor to the Pontiac G8 you guys got.

Owner got too many fines and was impounded and wanted to get rid of it, picked it up and towed it back to Abu Dhabi for $1109 and picked up a decent cam for $217

'06 Lumina LS1/4L65E

Saw this at the local DMV while i was picking up the donor car

Sandblasted and painted matte black, waiting on the bed mount brackets to arrive

Being primed to prevent further rust

The cam specs, nothing too wild

Plan is a bit of new and old.....Carbed LS1/TH350

BRING OUT THE PITCH FORKS!! A CARBED LS?!

Re: Plum Crazy C10 from a land far away

Update time:
Ordered a windshield from Summit, AMD brand, to be delivered to my NY forwarding address to be shipped over to me.

Here is how it arrived

Lucky, they reimbursed me and i purchased another one and shipped it directly through summit for $800!!

Installed the CPP brake kit with 2" lowering spindles

Filled out the heater holes to give it a smoother firewall

And extra sheetmetal to give it the same proportional look

Cab all done

Cab mated back to the frame with energy suspension bushes

Fender rust being cut out and repalced with sheetmetal

Re: Plum Crazy C10 from a land far away

Been awhile since i updated so here it goes

I had to make the bed locally from sheet metal since shipping charges were way too high

Towed it and parked it for the summer

One big happy family!

After the summer heat went down, i dropped the engine in

I bought seats from 2004-2009 Cadillac SRX, cut the mounting points and fabbed my own adapters then drilled holes in the cabin. I sent the seats to the interior shop to do them up again while waiting for my hushmats to arrive

Here are the latest updates

Got the Speed Engineering 1-7/8 longtubes installed

Installed everything and put the new MSD 6014 box in and she fired right up!

Installed the Cadi seats

Put the adapters on and installed the rims

Is it me or does the back end look jacked up?

Re: Plum Crazy C10 from a land far away

Holy thread revival!

Its been awhile and here is what happened since

Got some goodmark bedstrips since the previous ones where trashed

Did the bed wood locally since it was much cheaper here

Finally got it tested/insured and registered and completely road legal! What a journey!

Wasnt really feeling the Boyd Codington wheels so I went back to the torq thrust wheels

Now, I have to sort the usual small niggles and stuff and lower it. Thats about it for now

Nice looking truck. It's a lot nicer than what you started with.
