Vent cables and knobs

I want to keep my fresh air vents and want to get the cables and knobs and operate them from the two upper outside stock holes in the dash-the choke and throttle holes I think!

For those of you who have done this what cables did you use and where did you get them and the knobs. Are the knobs interchangeable as I would want them all to match on the dash.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Vent cables and knobs

the stock cables won't be long enough to reach either side but i don't see why you couldn't modify them
you'd need to start with the throttle and choke cables as the vent cables won't dash mount to well
then add the vent cables to the existing dash cables to make them longer
no way to add on to either cable or housing, you'll need to make a splice block
start the mockup by clamping the housing to a board and clamp both cables together
once you get a plan from the mockup make the final version from steel

clamp cables together with something like this from orielleys
just drill out the hole to accept both wires

clamp the housing down with something like this

Yikes, Ogre! Your post gave me a headache without any punctuation. Added some so others won’t get the same. I hope you don’t mind.

Re: Vent cables and knobs

I did exactly that with my truck. Replacements are long enough.
They are cut to fit.

Got them here:

Roger,
You’re saying the replacement vent door cables are long enough? Then how did you mount the knobs to the dash? Some kind of mod like Ogre proposed or was there some way you did it with the vent door cable?

Yes. They are long enough.
You take that small bracket off behind the knob. They have threads and a nut to mount them to the dash.

You can get them with black knobs or chrome ones. Here's the black:

Re: Vent cables and knobs

I mounted mine as Roger55 did and had sufficient cabling to have them work from the upper location
