Rack and pinion issue!

I just installed the Ford rack and pinion in my ‘67 with dropmember. I did the psi reduction kit in my PS pump as well. With that being said, it feels like I have manual steering! I pulled the return line and it’s getting a nice steady flow back to the pump. Any help on this? Any ideas? I have had it jacked up and slowly going back and forth with the wheel, but to no avail.

Re: Rack and pinion issue!

Has a 5.3 in it BTW. Put in 4 shims to bring pressure down to 800psi, but there is NO power assist at all.

Re: Rack and pinion issue!

It sounds like you need to bump your pressure up. Remove 1 or 2 shims & try it.

Re: Rack and pinion issue!

Self-inflicted issue. Sometimes you can be your own worst enemy. All fixed and works like it should!
